Editorial Reviews

Review

It's None of Your Business is a practical book, full of insight into how the system works to spy on ordinary citizens. It reveals how the government, large and small businesses, the insurance and medical industries, and a whole range of other organizations regularly compile dossiers on everyone. This data is then sliced, diced, and sold in a million different ways to the highest bidder. Very little control is given to the normal consumer over his important personal documentation, but the author gives dozens of ways that a person can take back control and actually determine what is kept on them. An excellent handbook written for everyone, whether they be rich or poor. This book is invaluable to those seeking to prevent the nightmare of credit theft, identity fraud, and loss of assets due to scam artists. It gives real, sound advice in non-technical terms and can help everyone take back control of their personal identity. -- Anonymous Reviewer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-have for any one concerned with privacy in their lives, March 17, 1999
By A Customer
This eye-opening and extremely informative book accomplishes two things. First, it alerts the reader to the incredible amount of privacy we sacrifice in our daily personal and business lives. More importantly, you will learn what to do about it! The revelation for me was the fact that privacy and convenience are usually inversely proportional. So some of the tips and techniques will have you saying "oh darn - I can't do that anymore!" However, when you truly realize that most of your life is an open book for anyone who wishes to pry into it - you'll feel enlightened and empowered by the vast amount of information this book contains. It runs the gamut from issues regarding privacy at work, financial affairs, computer, communications, and more. There is also an excellent resource section at the end to enable you to explore further into the world of privacy. Whether you're concerned about Big Brother, being stalked, or simply of the mind that in this technology age it's increasingly vital to keep one's business private and secure, None Of Your Business is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A user friendly guide to privacy!, December 8, 2001
By john smith (Privacy, Ohio) - See all my reviews
I have read and re-read this practical and very useful book. I continue to reference it regularly and have implimented many of the techniques Sontag recommends. His suggestions regarding computer security have been particularly useful and his in-depth knowledge of banking and finance are right on! I highly recommend buying this valuable book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Well Written, April 5, 2003
By A Customer
In a field of poorly written and researched books, this one has an abundance of detailed info on what's going on in the world of personal privacy. Maybe he includes a bit too much revolutionary political zeal, but I found a great deal of practical guidance I can use to secure my private life in these rapidly changing times.
