Product Description
Courage To Conquer: Breast Cancer Survivors Share Their Personal Stories is a collection of interviews with fifteen breast cancer survivors. The women interviewed discuss,in depth, topics related to breast cancer, such as how to cope with diagnosis and treatment, how to talk to children about breast cancer, fertility and sexuality after breast cancer, ways to improve health care for African American women, how the medical community can improve its treatment of breast cancer patients, and the importance of spirituality in dealing with illness. The interviews are arranged by age from youngest age at diagnosis to oldest. At the beginning of each is a synopsis of the woman's story, which includes available details of her medical history, and some of the topics she has talked about in her interview. At the end of the book are a glossary and list of reading materials and resources based on the suggestions and experiences of the women interviewed. Both the author's and publisher's proceeds are going to breast cancer research.
