Product Description
A coloring book of original drawings of Haitian scenes. Each picture has a short text telling the story of life in rural Haiti.

About the Author
Elizabeth Turnbull was born and raised in Haiti. She is currently attending Wake Forest University, majoring in English and journalism. Her inspiration for her descriptions spring from her real life encounters with the Haitian people.

Kristopher Battles received his BFA degree from Missouri State University in 1991. Since that time he has worked as a graphic designer, portrait and landscape painter and with several private collections. Battles has created his realistic drawings from first hand experience. He presently lives in Haiti where he teaches art in a self-help project located in the rural mountains.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent tool for multicultural education, March 17, 2001
By Elizabeth A. Persons (Pensacola, Florida) - See all my reviews
As a preschool teacher I found that "Bel Peyi Mwen" is an excellent tool for exposing my students to a diffferent culture. I recently had the opportunity to visit Haiti and the Dominican Republic and found this book a true representation of the Hatian culture. I highly recommend it to educators of all ages!

5.0 out of 5 stars After meeting the author and reading the book..., March 8, 2001
By Jimmy Marks (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews
I recently had the opportunity to meet Kristopher Battles when he returned to the United States for a brief trip. While in Florida I received a copy of his coloring book, and have thoroughly enjoyed each page of it. Upon talking to Kris and his beautiful wife Kelly, I discovered that the pages of his book truly reflect life in Haiti. I firmly recommend that any lover of childrens books purchase this fine piece of work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific coloring book!, September 4, 2004
By A. Miller (Broomfield, CO) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The pictures and short narratives are wonderful. You feel like you are getting a glimpse into their real life, a life that's very different than most of ours. The poverty is shown but not dramatized. It shows the hard work, ingenuity, and beautiful spirit of the people. I hope to see more coloring books about Haiti in the future! This one is great!
