Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Have you ever wanted to play guitar and belt out a tune, whether for your own enjoyment or the enjoyment of others? Do you want to be a campfire entertainer; accompany other guitar players while playing lead guitar; be able to play songs you hear on the radio and recordings - all by ear, without having to read music, even if you've never played guitar before? Then PLAY GUITAR BY EAR was written for you!

They say playing an instrument is a release of the soul, and I believe it, absolutely! There's no better sounding blues than when it's truly felt, or light songs when you're feeling good. There's nothing so healing and soothing for the soul, than making music, not to mention the social advantages of being a guitar player. Learning a couple of songs and a few lead guitar licks will increase your social standing immensely.

From the Author
Hello, my name is Ron Cummer. I've been playing guitar for over twenty years and I'd like to teach you to PLAY GUITAR BY EAR.

Over the years, a lot of my friends have asked me to teach them to play guitar. Some say they've tried to learn and just don't have the musical ability, or the patience. Well, I think that anyone can learn. If you can hum a tune, or tap your foot to a rhythm, you can learn to play an instrument and make music.

I've developed a system of instruction for beginner guitar that has taught many of my friends and their children. It's an excellent tool for teaching others to play because it's easy, fun, and has almost instant results. Anyone can learn from it!

If you've ever wanted to play guitar, but have never had the confidence, the time, or the means to employ a teacher, I have put my system into print.

5.0 out of 5 stars It got me off the first 3 frets., May 11, 2000

This book is absolutely unparalled in its ability to change a person like me from someone who has next to no ability with a guitar to someone who can play along with virtually any song. This book is far better than any I have been able to obtain. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to understand!, May 29, 2001
By A Customer
No matter what your style of music, you'll find instructions that will improve your playing. You can learn anything - from bluegrass, to blues (there's a good section on 12 bar blues), to country, to rock and roll. There's even a section on boogie-woogie.

This book is clear and to the point with easy to understand tablature showing you where to put your fingers. It includes everything you need to know about buying, maintining and learning to play the guitar for anyone making that first go at it.
