Editorial Reviews

Review

...if you're thinking of visiting England but are afraid of driving there, take heart. First step: buy a wonderful little book called Driving in Britain: A North American's Guide to the Ins and Outs and Roundabouts of Driving Over There... by Torontonian Rob Lockhart. Funny and informative. -- Jim Kenzie, automotive journalist

Lockhart sets out to take the mystery and fear out of negotiating British roads... This is not a book of British traffic laws, but an insider's guide on how people really drive in Britain... The author unravels the mysteries of roundabouts, the typically British means of channelling traffic through an intersection that, to drivers from North America, often seems only slightly more comprehensible than the mysterious game of cricket. This is done in a lighthearted style, accompanied by many clever drawings that make things perfectly understandable and give even the most anxious motorist reason to smile. -- British Heritage Magazine

Roundabout guide helps you tackle hellish traffic -- Frank Jones, The Toronto Star

Product Description

A witty, illustrated guide to the mysteries of driving in Britain from a North American point of view. The book helps tourists become "roundabout ready" and introduces equally important, but less well-known, aspects of British traffic protocol. Often tongue-in-cheek, but focussed and factual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Driving In Britain By Robert Lockhart, May 22, 2007
By C. Schramm (Birmingham AL USA) - See all my reviews

Having driven in Britain for many years in the 1970's, I really appreciated this book. It's hilarious but gives the reader the information needed to be able to safely drive the roads and motorways. I had forgotten how to handle roundabouts but this book not only explained them, it drew easy to understand pictures. It all came back to me by the time I had finished the review. I think it's good for novices as well as experienced drivers planning a trip to Britian.
