Excerpts of review done by Bev. Van der Schoor in "DTO Bulletin May 1993"
"My first impression when I was handed the book was one of excitement"

"The colourful (cover) cartoon of children busy in their world of discovering the artist through wood technology is captivating."

"I give the front cover an excellent rating for its attention-grabbing graphics layout."

"I found the arrangement of knowledge and skills to be consistent with the thought processes that I,..., need to follow."

"I applauded the author's inclusion of the child's process of idea and outcome."

"Ideas were well explained and accompanied with sketches and photographs."

About the Author
Bob Hastings has introduced thousands of children to the joys of woodworking. Over the past twenty-five years, he has taught adolescents in Grade 6 to 8 Design and Technology classes, young adults in Special Needs groups and technology teachers at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Education. His interest has also led to designing and conducting community woodworking programs such as'after-four'sessions for five to ten-year olds and the Children's Woodworking Centre at the Durhan Wood Show in Ontario.

During the past few years, Bob has been presenting workshops throughout Ontario for teachers of primary and junior children who are interested in establishing woodworking centres in their classrooms. He has won awards for both his vocation of teaching and his avocation of woodturning. A graduate of the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto's Design and Technology Specialist Course, Bob, although retired, continues to teach children and adults the joy of working with wood.
