Throughout the ages woman has been worshipped as Madonna and goddess, and vilified as an insatiable demoness whore. Female sexuality is a subject of fascination and fear. And it is precisely because of this "schizophrenic" attitude, and the concept of "sin," that female sexuality has been and remains the most controversial and most misunderstood subject on the planet.

Sexuality: Female Evolution and Erotica, is based, in part, on Dr. Joseph's pioneering research on the biological, hormonal, environmental, and evolutionary foundations of sex differences and sexuality--research he first began publishing, in esteemed scientific journals in the 1970s. This research includes his most recent scientific monograph, on sexual evolution, which recently appeared in the esteemed scientific journal: the Archives of Sexual Behavior.

Since the publication of the first edition of this text, a number of studies have been published which have confirmed some of the Dr. Joseph's more controversial data, statements, and arguments, including his claim, that women, on average, have more sex and more sex partners than the "average" man.
