Freda's fair skin and blue eyes afford her many privileges in her hometown of Morgan City, Louisiana. Beauty isn't enough to capture the heart of Raymond Marshall, the love interest of her sister, Margaret. Desperate for his affection, Freda has the town witch put a powerful love spell on Raymond and they are married shortly thereafter. As a result, a curse befalls the family that spans three generations. They move to New Orleans to start a new life, but the curse is inescapable. Delores, Freda's only daughter ultimately pays her mother's karmic debts.
