5.0 out of 5 stars Meet the real Slim Shady, November 5, 2000
By Kathy Ratiu-Kelley (Los Gatos, CA USA) - See all my reviews
I enjoyed this book very much. It was both interesting and exciting. Interesting because Byron and Eminem have very different perspectives on life. Exciting because you get a glimpse of what an Eminem tour is realy like. Its like having a backstage pass. You get to know all the people involved, and what the fans are like. Anyone who wants to know what Eminem is really like should read this book. Its like meeting the REAL Slim Shady. But, behind the rap persona is Marshall Mathers. This book gives you an insight into the clash of the two coming together. i'm a big Eminem fan and the book was great to see what Em is really like. Alot has been written about Eminem and his lyrics, this book gives you a look at the man behind the songs. A must read for REAL Slim Shady fans! You can't help but to love him and hate him at the same time!

2.0 out of 5 stars Content somewhat OK...but horribly edited, October 5, 2000
By A Customer
I am a huge Eminem fan, so I thought I would buy this book to get the real picture. I was disappointed after spending around $20 on a book that had grammar errors, spelling errors, and extra-large text. It seemed more like a diary to me, but sometimes even out of chronological order. Some of the stuff was interesting to me, but for the most part the author just complained about not getting paid enough money. If I was going to write a book about my experiences, I would have it edited in order to make the flow of the book tell a story, not just a series of events. The author claimed to be such a "business man", but I have a question "If you were in Slim and Paul's place, wouldn't you have tried to keep expenses down if you could get away with it?" That's what business is about...minimizing your cost and increasing productivity.

I do respect the author for being a religious man, but the words used throughout the book didn't mix well with quoted verses from the Bible. Also, the book is used to pitch the author's rap group.

I believe that most of the stuff was true in the book, but I still love Eminem.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Life Of Eminem, January 14, 2001
By duane hassall (England, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This book is just great, its a rush right from the start. i brought this book hoping to find out more about the rap superstar Marshall Mathers (eminem) and that was exactly what i got. Byron gives an honest opinion throughout the book on the life that Eminem leads(which is off the hook). Eminem is a true superstar, he lives life with no regard to anyone. The stories that are told in this book are told with great detail and some of them are totally shocking, from Ems drug abuse to his fascination with groupies to the trouble that Em found himself in with death row. I would recommend this book to every fan of Eminem because it gives a great insight to how life is on the road with the most talented rapper ever. This book also tells of how bad management can ruin what the star has, Byron tells it how it is on the subject of Paul Rosenburg (Ems manager) who will eventually be the downfall of one of the rap industries greatest talent. So to put this to an end if you wanna know about Eminem buy this book.
