Product Description

Joseph Talon, billionaire entrepreneur and founder of the high-tech firefighting company "Firebombers Incorporated" takes a desperate gamble to stave off bankruptcy by leading the organization down to the Central American republic of San Pietro. However, his hopes of winning a long-term firefighting contract from the fledgling government are sidetracked by a revolt incited by druglords intent on wresting control of the country from the legitimate government. When a group of his firefighters is trapped deep in the jungle, cut off from help, and surrounded by guerillas, Joe is forced to make an agonizing choice: Hope that he can ransom his people from the druglords… or try to rescue them from the midst of an overwhelmingly powerful enemy force.

An engine company and a company of firefighters is heading for an airstrip where they will be flown back to the capital of San Pietro after having extinguished a wildland blaze. Their military escort is virtually wiped out within moments in an ambush by druglord mercenaries, forcing the unarmed firefighters to flee into the jungle. While most of the engine company escapes, the rest of the firefighters are pursued to a remote telephone relay station. Besieged by 5,000 guerillas led by battle-hardened mercenaries, the firefighters and a small contingent of U.S. artillerymen (that’s a long story) are faced with the daunting task of holding off the druglord’s soldiers until help can arrive. It will take at least two days before a relief force can reach them. What are the chances that 300 firefighters, 70 soldiers, 3 technicians, and an engineer armed with one M-16 and three .22-caliber rifles can hold off this force of heavily-armed guerillas?

An Air Force AC-130U gunship flying over the middle of the Gulf of Mexico is running out of fuel. Too far from land in any direction to safely touch down, unable to refuel in the air due to battle damage, what can the firefighter transport pilot manning the controls (that’s another long story) do to get the crew home safely?

And who exactly is the mysterious new commander of the 701st Firejumper company, John Standing Bear?

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the original, March 2, 2005
By steve (la verne. california) - See all my reviews
I read this book in the ninth grade and it was great. Most of the time when you read a sequel its never as good as the original, but this one had everything FI had and more! The action and suspense in this book, added to the original realistic storyline make it a great book.Joe talon, in a desperate attempt to save FI, takes them too south america where they are taken hostage. There Joe meets an old Friend....See how it turns out!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another good Book from Mr. Archer, September 26, 2008
Book two is out from The Fire Bombers series by Mike Archer.
Exciting, great read with action and a twist to the series.
This book takes you and FireBombers Inc overseas. Hostile people have captured and surround some of the FireBombers crew. The book takes on a military theme, and results with a interesting rescue plan.
Action packed, a thriller and a easy read.
I cant wait for more from Mr.Archer, which is forth coming soon!
I also want too note that Mr. Archer does respond to calls and emails, and invites people to do such.
Note that half of the sales of his books go to Fire Fighter charitys, helping out familys of lost loved ones.
That in it self makes his books a MUST buy.
Thanks,
Dave

5.0 out of 5 stars Story of courage, perseverance and tenacity for all!, July 27, 2006
By Cathy L. Yanda (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"Firestorm" written by Michael Archer is an amazingly well-written book. I thoroughly enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I learned a great deal about high-tech firefighting. This has allowed me to understand much about what is involved in putting out the fires on going on now on the west coast of the U.S. This book is an action-filled, high-drama, exciting story of human nature and physical nature, their colliding and their coalescing.

A group of firefighters, working for a company trying to stave off bankruptcy go to Central America to fight fires during the off-season for U.S. fires. While there, they are trapped in the jungle, cut off by guerillas and, not being able to depend on the locals to help them out of the difficult situation, they have to rescue their own people and fight their way out. What ensues is a powerful story of courage, perseverance and tenacity.

..."She glanced sidelong at Hannah, then focused back on John as she continued speaking. Semper fidelis, she thought, remember the Marine Corps creed. `Always faithful'...Bring it ON!..." and that's just what they do.

From one Marine to another, Semper fi! I can't imagine anyone not thoroughly enjoying this novel.
