Hi! My name is Mary Cynthia Knowles. I created these videos as a love letter to my father. Why? Because in my twenty years of experience as an interior designer, I have never met anyone who has such a thorough grasp of classical design. More importantly, he taught me the gift of putting these principles in simple everyday language.
My dad started teaching what he called “Real World Design” in the early 1970’s to design students at area universities. Then he began teaching to the public. He saw a need for simple, direct, basic knowledge that would work for anyone—regardless of taste or budget. This knowledge will work for you no matter where you live or the style you like. Classic design never changes, never goes out of style!
What I have discovered teaching these classes for 20 years is a desire for each person to express themselves. I’m here to help bring what’s inside you out! I’m not personally available to everyone, so I created these videos so you can view them over and over until you feel comfortable using the principles.
I chose topics that thousands of people like you asked for: color, color flow, furniture placement and style, accessories, flooring, walls, window treatments and much, much more. I’ve been reading and watching for twenty years, and there really is nothing else like these tapes on the market.
