Book Description
A story of obsession
Love beyond the grave.
Blood Scent takes the popular trappings of vampirism, romance and the gothic; bringing them together in a modern tale of a young womans journey into the dark side of her soul.
Set in fictional Bayton Isle, off the coast of Maine, Samantha Barnes, a successful cover artist for romance novels, must come to terms with her manic depressive past and her obsessive desire to find true love even if it leads her to the grave itself.
When Samantha suddenly finds herself attracted to a woman with a mysterious and haunting past, she is whisked into a nightmare world of vampires, blood and murder. Thinking that she has finally found the perfect lover in Lara Karnov, the unholy pact she forges with the vampire nearly costs her the lives of those who love her most. Samantha slowly discovers that the infamous Karnov Family is a savvy group of vampires surviving for centuries on the blood of those who served them. By the time Samantha comes to realize the truth, the trail of blood has taken a deadly turn.
The Countess Lara Karnov brings to vampire lore a new and surprising twist in an ending that will haunt you long after youve put the book down.
Blood Scent delivers a bold and daring look into our own darkest fears.
About the Author
Patty G. Henderson
"Edgar Allan Poe and H.P.Lovecraft were the major influences in my wanting to write."
With mentors like those, Patty G. Henderson found herself writing supernatural horror early in life. "I had no choice, really," she says, "I was sucked into the dark and started writing short stories in my early teens."
Patty was first published in PARAGON and then in Dale Donaldson's innovative,cutting-edge fanzine MOONBROTH in the 1970's. A firm believer in the 'romantic gothic' element in horror fiction, she doesn't feel comfortable with the splatter and gore, in your face mentality of some of today's horror fiction. Why not a horror-romance crossover novel?
"It is such a delicious high to still frighten people using the classic supernatural elements. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves. Anne Rice still weaves this type of magic into her vampire novels and I'd like to bring some of that to the lesbian market. There is so little horror for the lesbian reader to enjoy."
BLOOD SCENT is Patty's first novel. Patty was born, raised and still lives in Tampa, Florida and with publication of BLOOD SCENT hopes you too can embrace the dark side with her.
"Come along, don't be afraid. Only your nightmares and primal fantasies await."
