Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Dog & Pony Show is a collection of cartoon stories by Pam Bliss. Ranging from kid's club adventures to tales of time travel to explorations of the secret lives of dogs, the stories are held together by their common setting: the perfect imaginary Midwestern small town of Kekionga, Indiana.

About the Author

Pam Bliss has been making her distinctive cartoon stories since 1989. They have appeared in the pages of her own comic books, and in numerous anthologies. Dog & Pony Show is her first book collection. Pam lives in Northwest Indiana with her husband and their Welsh corgi dogs. When she isn't telling stories or walking the dogs, she is probably reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest, Funny Comics, June 27, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The motto of Pam Bliss's Paradise Valley Comics is "Honest Comics Since 1989." I can't think of a better word to describe her work. She's funny in a gentle, whimsical style; these are comics you could enjoy yourself, and share with your 10-year-old niece. Really!

Dog and Pony Show spans 8 years of Pam's comics, from 1993 to 2001. It ranges from little personal stories (like Nick's Killer Pigeons) to charming riffs on popular songs (Froggy Went a Courtin and Swing on a Star) to full-length stories (Those Kids and The Traveling Travelall).

Pam's artwork is fine, and her characters (Radiation Man, Those Kids, Nahkt-Min and Katie, and all the dogs) are quirky and appealing.

This is a great choice for anyone who loves comics, whether you're familiar with Pam Bliss' work or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great "bathroom book" indeed!, September 4, 2001
By Bryan F. Irrera (Vineland, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had the pleasure of meeting the author at the Wizard World Convention in Chicago this year and I bought the book without any prior knowledge of the contents (though I had seen some of the Radiation Man strips in other anthology books before). Ms. Bliss is a charming lady and her stories are equally charming. I look forward to reading more of the stories of the Travelling Travelall, as well as those of Those Kids. Both series are filled with sweet, realistically portrayed people. Every one of the stories in this book is wholesome, humorous and some (especially the stories of the Travelall) are educational. They are fun for ALL-AGES!
