5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, August 19, 2004
Pararas-Caryannis leads the reader - professional or layman -
through a detailed background covering earthquakes, tsunamis,
California geography and history, seismology, then finally
summarizing factually the odds of major earthquakes in likely
localities. And he does so in terms that all of us can
understand and appreciate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Book!, June 22, 2009
This was an intriguing and insightful book. Dr. Pararas-Carayannis makes compelling scientific arguments for the plausibility of a massive earthquake to strike California. The ensuing disaster scenarios he illustrates are realistic. Overall worth a read!

1.0 out of 5 stars EVER BEEN TO CALIFORNIA?, March 11, 2008
Has this author ever BEEN to California? Was this "book" self-published? The illustrations look like they were run off on an old copier. If you know the Golden State, check out the hand-drawn, completely disorienting "map" on page 6. Even better, go to page 131 and follow on a map his description of a fault -- south across hiway 166, east back across I-5, and finally north across 99 on a ENE track. Is this a fault line or a lost tour bus? I grew up in So. Calif. and I've studied tectonics extensively (self-preservation). I think this might be (horrors!) some kind of text book, but most of the material is not his research, it's from elsewhere...I won't say the "P" word. I wasted $16 on this, used. Don't make the same mistake. There IS no way to predict tsunami or earthquake action.
