toughtoughtough but fabulous, February 6, 2002
By A Customer
Collage rate this as intermediate/advanced. I am a regular exerciser - Stott Intermediate Pilates, yoga newbie, New York City Ballet workout, and some weights, recently. This was great, but very tough. I could hardly walk for the next 2 days - no kidding! You need to be in good shape to start doing this tape, otherwise cut down on all the reps all the way through, or you will regret it! And give your quads an extra stretch at the end because they get worked heavy duty. And make sure you really keep your pelvis tilted forward all the time in the standing ball exercises, otherwise you will only work your quads. That said, it is unique. I love the mix, and it saves me time. I usually let my body tell me what it wants after a hard day's work - sometimes it wants an hour of Pilates, sometimes it wants Kripalu dynamic (yummy), sometimes it wants Stephanie Foster's Intermediate yoga with its nice mix of Pilates and brisk yoga stretches, and sometimes it wants Jennifer Kries' All in One Workout or Perfect Mix. Sometimes I can't make up my mind and have a high energy level and this is the tape for those days. The general concept is something like the last two mentioned but tougher! Imagine a mix of power yoga - advanced Pilates - a few targeted weights movements - and some VERY intense legwork - both standing and floor. By the end your behind is screaming. It feels like it works everywhere - to the limit - and at the same time leaves me stretched out like I've had a good yoga session. and my flexibility goes up every time I use it. I started off hardly touching my toes - now I can put my whole hand on the flooor - such a buzz! So - only for toughies, no wussies need apply...... but graceful and yoga inspired also. Enjoy........

The best of many worlds, and it hurts so GOOD, March 19, 2003
Ow. Ow. Im still sore from doing this tape (and I've done it many times before. . ) but Im sore in all the right places. This tape, in many ways, is exactly what I've been looking for. I want the mind/body centering effects of yoga, but love the super-effective moves in Callanetics. I want to build muscle and work up a sweat, but I also want to be stretched and lengthened. I want to be challenged, but I don't want to feel frustrated and discouraged. This tape has it all, and its tough. It works each muscle group to failure, but at the end of it all you feel relaxed, energized and positive that you are getting a great return on your investment of an hour. Though Grace's form leaves something to be desired, and you should definitely understand the basics of Pilates and Yoga movement before you attempt this tape, it brings together a lot of very desireable elements for a mix-and-match excerciser like myself. And gosh golly if I don't feel proud of myself when Im done. You need a weighted ball, a body bar, and light weights.
