It is too bad that the 2 star reviewer based their opinion on an article rather than the book. If they had read the book in its entirety, I think it would have put the article in context and they probably wouldn't have been so defensive.

I have never felt the need to write a review but I will do so for this book and I'm recommending it to all of my married AND single friends. If you can, take advantage of the "Look Inside" feature on Amazon to preview what you're getting when you buy this book because the snippets I read convinced me that I had to read the whole thing.

Although the book is targeted towards men, I found that I could also identify with a lot of the things he discussed. My husband and I get along pretty well for the most part but we couldn't seem to get past bickering and fighting over small things. Friedman put a lot of things into perspective for me...and when I convince my husband in a loving, uncritical way to finish reading the book, I think that our marriage will start taking a much better path.

I haven't read the book, but if it is anything like this article on "how to get a man to do housework" ... http://www.marriedromance.com/columns/friedman/housework.htm I have to say, mr Friedman misses the point.
He suggests women have to encourage their men to do their share of the housework, and applaud and be grateful for every little thing they do.

Well, sorry, but it doesn't work that way. Showing mutual appreciation is a good thing; but assuming that housework isn't a shared responsibility is a thing of the past.

Would mr. Friedman be okay with asking his wife, assuming she works outside the home like he does, every single night: "Honey, it would mean a lot to me if you would cook us a meal tonight. Would you be willing to take that on?" No? Surprise, surprise....

Very insightful book for all men. Men must read this book, and will find so much information that can help their marriages. It's a must have book even for women.
