About the Author
Ted Knuckey started working on ranches at the age of 13 and by 14 was riding rodeos on the weekend. He joined the Rodeo Cowboys Association in 1945 and maintained his professional status until 1955. A former member of the U.S. Navy, Knuckey served in the Korean War, then joined the San Bern ardino, California, Police Department as a patrolman. He was subsequently promoted to detective and was eventually named head of the Detective Division. He retired as lieutenant in Ferbruary 1975. Knuckey finished law school and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1975. He maintained a general private practice but spent a great deal of time in criminal defense work. In 1988 he was appointed to the bench as a trial court commissioner. Since retiring from that position in 1999, he has worked as a freelance writer.
