Review
"Chacko has done it again." -- Carl Ax, author of After 'Nam

This... is so masterfully written. Anything I write does not do justice to this heroic event written by David Chacko. -- Teri Davis, reviewingtheevidence.com

Product Description
Like a Man is the story of the most successful clandestine mission in the history of warfare. Based closely on fact but never limited by it, this World War II action adventure follows three paratroopers from their night-drop into Nazi-Occupied Czechoslovakia until the last shattering moments when they fight an entire regiment of SS troops to the death.

The paratroopers' mission, called Anthropoid, begins with a bad drop that puts them miles off their target and far from any help. It leads them by luck, accident and skill through the heart of the underground resistance to the culmination of their mission on a quiet suburban street in Prague.

There they assassinate the second most powerful man in Nazi Germany-the head of the SD and the Gestapo, the Protector of Czechoslovakia. How they did what no one else could do, and how they carried themselves onto the pages of history is one of the most compelling chapters in the long annals of secret war.

4.0 out of 5 stars LIKE A MAN David Chacko, June 8, 2009
By tigersmama (Whitehall, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
A very interesting story about the Czechoslavakia resistance in WW 2. This
story concerns the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, second in command to the Nazi regime. Although this is fiction it is based on historical facts. The Czech underground was trained in England, dropped by parachute into Nazi-occupied territory and completed their mission at the expense of many thousands of lives. The Nazi annihlation of the town of Lidice became a rallying cry for the Allied troups. Many bombs dropped on Germany had "LIDICE" written on them. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars MISSION IMPOSSIBLE PLUS, August 13, 2005
LIKE A MAN is a first-rate read and a great piece of historical writing. The wartime atmosphere, the importance of the mission, two dedicated commandos, and well-drawn supporting characters, including Churchill, Hitler, Himmler, Heydrich, along with many members of the WWII underground, make for a fascinating picture of men under orders to do the impossible. They did it, and their story is one for the ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast moving historical fiction, November 24, 2007
By Michael W. Drafke (Lemont, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This book gives you a good feel for what it must be like to drop behind the lines, try to blend in, and carry out resistance operations. It moves right along, not too fast or slow, and builds to the tragic climax. If you like WW II fiction this is a book for you.
