Product Description

This is a children's story book about Leap Year.

A Story about a boy named Miles who was born on February 29.

On Saturday Miles will be celebrating his birthday. Although he is happy about his birthday there seems to be some confusion about how old Miles will be.

Will he be eight or will he be just two?

Age range is targeted for 8 - 12 years old.

About the Author

Being the mother of a Leap Year child inspired Michelle to write, "It's My Birthday... Finally! A Leap Year Story.

On February 29, 1992, Michelle gave birth to a wonderful little "Leapling" (That's a baby born on Leap Day). Michelle and her husband named him Miles. Four years later on February 29, 1966, Miles celebrated his first Leap Year Birthday. Being only one or four - depending upon how you look at it - was not important to Miles, at that time. All he know was that he was having a birthday party. Over the next four years, Miles learned about the calendar and realized that his birthday date did not appear on the calendar each year. Finally, February 29, 2000 was drawing near and Miles was finally going to have a birthday that appeared on the calendar. As a special gift, Michelle wanted to buy him a children's storybook about Leap Year. To her surprise, she could not find one. Making a note of this, Michelle began to outline, "It's My Birthday... Finally! A Leap Year Story." However, it wasn't until two years later that Michelle began to write this story... and here it is finally!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!!, November 18, 2003
By Carolynne (Jackson, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
Finally, a children's book about being born on February 29th (Leap Year). I've looked for years to find such a book and here it is. This is a great story about Miles' finally getting to celebrate his birthday on the 29th of February. The author did a wonder job on this book and the illustrations are great. Recommended for parents and teachers alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars If only this were available when I was a kid!, February 6, 2004
By Raenell Dawn (Keizer, Oregon, USA) - See all my reviews
I was born on Leap Day. This is a great book. The author really captures the boys Leapness with accuracy and humor. I enjoyed this book so much. It would have been so cool to have a book like this when I was a kid. And the illustrations are comfortable and delightful.

A book about someone born on Leap Day... FINALLY!
Every library should have one. Home, school and city!

4.0 out of 5 stars For ages 8 and up, March 11, 2006
The book is very cute, but LONG and for kids who already understand the concept of leap year! It's really just a silly, cute story. I have a leap day child from 2000 who just turned "6" (Kindergarten) and this book is way over his head. I'm trying to help him understand why he doesn't have a birthday this year or next year, and have found NOTHING available! So.... I'm writing my own!!
