Book Description
This is an anthology on Santos wood carvings in the Puerto Rican tradition. This is one of the most important folk traditions on the Island of Puerto Rico. From its religious origins as a product of religious devotion, it became an expression of national character throughout the Twentieth Century. Lately, it has evolved into a commercial endeavor. This book explores this subject trough a number of essays by some of the more important scholars in the field. It is written in Spanish. An English version is forthcoming.
