About the Author
A direct descendent of Nader Shah, Dr. Badi Badiozamani (Ph.D. in Political Science) comes from a long line of rulers, writers and thinkers. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 1980, he served as Management Analyst at the Oils Service Company (OSCO) of Iran, a consortium of oil firms including Exxon, Mobil and Shell. Holding membership in PEN USA and the ATA, he has served as writer and / or editor for a number of Persian-American publications. He was vice-chair of the International Affairs Board of the City of San Diego and was Chairman of the Cultural and Economic Interchange Committee. He also was appointed by the Governor to Californias Joint Venture Advisory Board. In 2003, he became the first Iranian-American to run for Governor. Most recently, he serves as Founder and Executive Director of the Center for East-West Understanding, created with the mission of diminishing extremism and the threat of violence through Global Town-Hall Meetings, Friendship Camps, Media Programs and unconventional book publications. He has appeared on CNN, NBC, Fox, ABC, Voice of America, BBC, Radio South Africa, The Washington Post, USA Today, Newsweek and Los the Angeles Times. He is currently working on his next book, All My Wives: A Report on Temporary Marriage in Shii Islam. Ghazal Badiozamani, the contributing author, works at the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs. She received a dual undergraduate degree in Economics and International Relations from Stanford University, where she served as President of the women's Honors Society. She also holds an M.Sc. in Economics with a focus in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.
