Product Description

If your choice for president was a dishonest and corrupt politician, or an honest semi-pro golfer whose gorgeous wife made money the old fashion way, and his campaign manager is a Las Vegas gambling talk show host, who would you vote for? If you could ask any presidential candidate a question while they re hooked up to a lie detector, what would you ask them? One Nation Under Par is a funny and fast paced story that hits a hole-in-one for virtually anyone that has interest in politics, golf, sports, gambling, music, mild levels of absurdity, and even unusual pet tricks. While taking his last shot to become a professional touring golfer, Jeff Taylor became entangled in an unprecedented betting scheme and found himself unofficially in the presidential election race. Except for being brutally honest, he had no other skills to run for the most important position in the world. However, Jeff found a new desire to run for president, and actually put up a fighting chance in his effort to win the election with the aid of his off-beat team members. But evil political forces deployed a comical band of thugs, attempting to squash his claim to the presidential throne using any means necessary. If you're into golf and political humor, grab your clubs and enjoy the 18 hysterical holes of One Nation Under Par.

About the Author

About the Author Mark Nemcek

One Nation Under Par is a story about absurdity and truth, two topics that are truthful oxymoron s when it comes to US politics. While watching the Katrina catastrophe, and also recovering from the same hurricane in my South Florida home, I came up with an idea about hooking up politicians to a lie detector to see if we could really find out what's going on in D.C. Humor spilled out onto the paper. I'm not a political freak, but wondered if honesty and integrity could have helped to avoid events like 9/11 and the NewOrleans / Katrina mess. We could add the Enron and Tyco fiascos to the business side of this list. Then I thought, maybe a golfer would be a good leader. They play to the best of their ability and try to beat a golf course without cheating. Isn't that what we want from our political and business leaders? I know, wishful thinking. I started writing this humorous story, falling back on experience from writing press releases, newsletters and magazine articles. Before to long, I kept adding to it, until I realized I had fun fantasizing about electing a no-name sports nut for president, and my thoughts turned to words, and then into a book. I also wrote a screenplay regarding this story, which was far more challenging than I could imagine, but, it s ready for the big screen, (at least in my mind). Overall, I enjoyed creating this humorous tale, and hope you enjoy it as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hillarious political / pop culture / sports fusion - Great Read!!, March 4, 2007
Great book from cover to cover. The author definitely has a unique but completely appealing sense of humor.

The characters and situations are well thought out. You don't have to be a golfer or have a political vein to enjoy this. It takes you on the improbable roller coaster ride of a prospective pro-golfer as he falls head first onto the American political scene. You'll never look at the (rat)race for the White House the same way again.

I couldn't put this one down. Absolutely a MUST READ!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and imaginative- A "Can't Put Down" book, November 5, 2008
This book is particularly one of my favorites- and I don't even know that much about golf! I just finished reading it- right before the election and it sure put a humorous and quirky spin on everything! It's a must read! I couldn't help but to keep thinking it would make a great movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I got this book for my husband but I read it too. It was a great story to read especially on a cold winter night. I enjoyed it too and I don't play golf. I recommend it highly.
