Product Description

Through the magic of electronic publishing technology, this "nimble" guide to the works of best-selling author Dan Brown provides the latest news about the author and his works, updated whenever there are significant developments. Unlike a conventional book, for which editions are printed in quantity every couple of years, this "living book" goes through frequent "mini-editions" and is printed fresh whenever customers place an order. This version was most recently updated on May 17, 2006. The next major update will be released when the title of Brown's next novel is officially confirmed. Soon after that book is published, about 100 pages of chapter-by-chapter analysis will be added! For free PDF versions of these and other updates, send proof of purchase to danbrown-updates@nimblebooks.com.

The Unauthorized Dan Brown Update includes information about Digital Fortress, Angels & Demons, Deception Point, The Da Vinci Code (book and movie), and The Solomon Key. It’s a "meta" book in the sense that it complements, without trying to replace, the many worthy books that are already available about The Da Vinci Code. This Update is unique in that it provides a "nimble," timely report on all of Dan Brown’s activities, including everything that is known about The Solomon Key, "The Da Vinci Code" movie, and beyond. The Update gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes the best information that is publicly available about Dan Brown and his work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dan Brown, The DaVinci Code and even more, August 25, 2005
The appetite for information on Dan Brown, The DaVinci Code, his other novels and novel-to-be find food for thought in this mini-book offered both in hard copy as a pdf download by Fred Zimmerman. (Get the download-it offers a color vs. black and white version, active hyperlinks--and can always be printed out if you insist.) Zimmerman offers insight into two little known episodes of Brown's career: his song writing and his previous 187 Men to Avoid. Much of this book is devoted to an overview of books about The DaVinci Code and what is known of the Ron Howard--Tom Hanks movie version due out in May of 2006.
There is to date scant information on Brown's next novel, tentatively entitled The Solomon Key. But the author does cull the existing sources to point readers off to googling their way through Freemasons, Mormons, Washington's architecture, the Book of Enoch and Joseph Smith. What can you really say about an unpublished novel? The author promises live updates when the novel appears for purchasers of his work. A section on an "Information Launchpad," in particular how to maximize Google's resources to stay absolutely up-to-date, is almost worth the modest price itself. One omission is the author's failure to mention the excellent book and pdf by Betsy Eble, Depth and Details: A Reader's Guide to Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code, that really opened the way for efforts such as this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Starting Point for Dan Brown Research, November 23, 2005
By J. Harden (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews

If you are an avid internet researcher this book may not be for you. As to the rest of us, this PDf is an incredible starting off point. For those wondering, this is a summation of Dan Brown's career and not a refutation of his work as are most unauthorized books. The author has pulled a number of sources together and then gives you instruction on how to keep up with all that is Dan Brown.

The real value and worth of this will be seen in the future. Using new technology in the downloaded formats the author claims to be able to give updates. Thus making this a constant update to what is going on with the movie and Dan's new book. I gave this 3 stars for its length and the fact that I already knew some of the information. If Mr. Zimmerman can pull off interesting updates then this will deserve 4 or 5 stars. Time will tell on that. If nothing else I give kudos to the author for trying new things in the publishing world. May he start a new trend.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Solomon Key" and Beyond:, September 9, 2006
By Joseph R. Suica (Tsawwassen, BC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
A must read for fans of Dan Brown books. Included is an e-update on "The Solomon Key" when it comes out - probably Fall '07. This meta book includes meaning of the symbolism in Brown's books. It also includes Brown's testimony (personal, career and background of each book) to the "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" plagiarism trial. In his testimony, Brown also addresses the hidden history of Christianity which raises old issues which The Church may have thought that religious dogma, blind faith and The Spanish Inquisition took care of.
