Editorial Reviews

Product Description
A writer of telling, minute detail with global vision, Peter Meinke reveals the intricacy of human relationships, the importance of individualism, and the power of place and culture in this new collection of stories. Masterfully-crafted dialogue, slight shifts in point-of-view, descriptive precision and imagination, and dramatic tension drive each story deeply into the human psyche. The settings range from old England to contemporary Paris and Warsaw, and across the United States. The featured characters—whether on tennis courts, in restaurants, or in their own beloved homes—always make surprising choices as they cope with love, lust, ambition, regret, youth, and old age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peter Meinke is a national treasure., October 9, 2008
By K. I. Kellison "Kit" (Clayton, MO, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"Unheard Music" is a beautiful book of stories by Peter Meinke. He writes with a love for his characters that is so transcendent, he makes them family for the short time they are in one's head.

Although Meinke is also known for his prose, he is foremost a poet. This makes his fiction lovely as an example of concision and beauty. His lyricism and ear for rhythm make him an absolute pleasure to read.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem of a Writer, June 29, 2009
Peter Meinke is a treasure. From his peotry to his stories, he is one of a kind for his generation. I teach writing classes, and these stories are a textbook for how to write well. I am so happy to have discovered him, and I urge all lovers of great writing to join me. Therese Tappouni, CEO of Isis Institute, www.isisinstitute.org
