Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Q. What do Rodney King, Joe Bonanno, and a spider have in common with a lime and a coconut? A. Carmelita Lee. Carm tells all in this book full of funny, sad, or touching tales, not about court, really, but about the people she met, the places she traveled to, and the stories she heard along the way. From the courts of Arizona and California, to the austere Four Courts in Dublin, to the informal depositions in law offices all over Europe, Russia, and the Middle East, you will find yourself grinning at the situations she found herself in, and sometimes tearing up as she reflects on life far from the familiar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, January 18, 2008
By J. F. Bryant (East Tennessee, USA) - See all my reviews

Awesome! Carmelita shares her life -- the good, the bad, the ugly, including foibles and mishaps. In a profession that few understand, I find this a wonderful opportunity to connect with someone who does. I'm amazed at the life opportunities Carmelita has had and is so willing to share with others. In the span of a few pages, I find myself sitting with mouth agape in awe of the experience, only to convulse with laughter in the next paragraph, then weeping in the next!
I highly recommend it to anyone in the court reporting field -- or even the legal field in general!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read -- great gift, February 28, 2008
By K. Campbell (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews

A good read for anyone in the legal field, anyone who knows anyone in the legal field, anyone who is thinking of getting into the legal field ...

A career court reporter, Carm tells of her courtroom adventures in the US and her travel adventures working as the only English-language real-timer in the Mediterranean, giving you a realistic view of both the good and the bad of the profession along with plenty of laughs along the way.

Carm rode out the Rodney King riots barricaded in the courthouse, luxuriated in five-star hotels (paid for by the client!), and has sprinted through more airports than she cares to count, lugging her trusty steno machine. And lived to tell about it.

Throughout she has helpful hints for the court reporting student and the beginning court reporter, as well as for the business traveler (like how *not* to pack your panties).
