Francis is about a pet spider monkey that lived with a family with two young boys before the government stopped importing spider monkeys from the South American rain forests in the 1970's. Spider monkeys are an endangered species and are fast becoming extinct. This book was written to give young readers a little insight into what it was like to raise a spider monkey as a pet, and how the entire family coped and met the many needs of the young primate. Francis was a challenge. He learned from observation, and could respond to simple commands. He was independent, intelligent, mischievious, and cunning, and a lot of fun.

About the Author

Katherine Jones is a retired administrative secretary living in the San Fernando Valley with her husband of 40 some years. She graduated from CA State University at Northridge in 1986, and writes as a hobby. She has a son and three grandchildren.
