We Love Each Other: A Healing Journal for Grieving Children + Sad Isn't Bad: A Good-Grief Guidebook for Kids Dealing With Loss (Elf-Help Books for Kids)

Editorial Reviews

Product Description

We Love Each Other is a healing journal for grieving children. It is for every child, everywhere whose parent (or grand parent) has died.

The journal begins by remembering the past and focusing on what everyday life, and everyday love, was like between the child and the parent. At this point, the child can add family photos, cards, mementos, etc.

As the journal unfolds, it gently acknowledges the parent’s death. The child is invited to draw, or write about, any feelings or concerns they may be having about that death. They also begin to understand that, although their parent's body died, their parent's love survived.

The journal ends by helping the child understand how to carry their parent's love with them into their future. The child is free to experience everyday life, and everyday love, with their parent's love inside them.

What are readers saying about We Love Each Other?

This book is a compelling, heartfelt story. It looks like a book, but when read and used, it will become a lasting keepsake for any child who has experienced the loss of a loved one.

Larry Dawalt, Director of Community Outreach
Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region

Discussing death, especially a parent's death, is difficult. This book gives a sense of comfort and ease for that discussion. I am sure children of all ages, and parents, will truly enjoy and appreciate this wonderful book.

Lind Moore-Givens, M.D.
Pediatric Associates of Charlotte

As a school psychologist, I have used this book first-hand with elementary school children. It improves their functioning and calms their souls. I recommend this resource wholeheartedly. Thomas Hubbert, MACP, CAS

4.0 out of 5 stars Giving our Children Permission to Feel, July 27, 2006
By Mark D. Jacobs (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book offers up a chance for a child to truly FEEL. Today, it seems we overschedule children to the point that there is no time for them to truly be childlike. This Journal is the first step for many hurting and confused children to take their nebulous, unfocused and confusing grief and channel it into something concrete.
The child in all of us can relate to Julie's kind and loving way of phrasing existential questions in a such acalming and loving manner, while offering activities which allow the creativity and imagination in each person to begin the healing process.
This book is a "must-have" for everyone who needs to find permission to feel and be childlike (vulnerable, trusting, questioning and creative).
