Editorial Reviews

Product Description
A triumphant portrayal of all that is beautiful about sexual intimacy, love and respect, even when-perhaps especially when-experienced for the first time by unspoiled innocents. It is the story of one man's search for self-knowledge through intimate relations with a cast of endearing and lovingly-rendered female characters. Explicitly sexual, though never crude, the novel tears at the heartstrings with a spiritually uplifting celebration of life in all its untidy, awful and exuberantly glorious aspects. "Barbara is an uncommonly rich reading experience."

5.0 out of 5 stars The Search for Lost Innocence, March 31, 2008
By Burt Kempner (Gainesville, Florida) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
"Barbara" is a joy. Sometimes lusty, sometimes lyrical, it's one rollicking read. Our hero is forever panting, and often repenting, in search of innocence and true love, with many a humorous or disastrous detour. Author LeBeaux does an excellent job of bringing his protagonist to life, complete with all the fumblings of adolescence and the hard-won wisdom that only age and experience can bring. Heartily recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautifully Written Novel, April 1, 2008
R. LeBeaux's novel, Barbara, sets several precedents in the realm of descriptive sexual action. Though it is explicitly sexual in many respects, it is not in any way pornographic or crude. In fact, it is a heart-rending, spiritually uplifting story of love and commitment and honesty, woven from many vivid emotional threads into tapestry of humor and adolescent innocence so real and visual, I often often found myself entering into a fugue state of cathartic reminiscence. This novel is a wonderful blend of all that is beautiful about sexual intimacy and the clumsy, often ridiculous efforts couples sometimes put forth to realize that beauty.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life comes at you fast, April 1, 2008
When you're young is when you learn the most. When you're older is when you understand what it is that you learned. BARBARA takes this bit of wisdom and runs with it. The lusty, sometimes bawdy, always sensitive book is a trip back in time. The author shows clearly through his protagonist the confusions and gut-wrenching traumas of growing up. If you think you know anything about the opposite sex, or about sex, you very well might, but I guarantee you'll know more after reading BARBARA. Get it. Read it. Enjoy!
