If you are looking for three stories that will take you through the spectrum of emotions then you will not want to miss this wonderful anthology by three very talented authors who tied this story together with three college buddies who decide to have the same...well...I really can't tell you the rest, but if you want to know how this anthology got its name and how the stories of these three men are tied into the other, I guess you'll have to read it! *wink*
DIAMOND ASSETS by Ruth D. Kerce -- http://www.ruthkerce.com/ --- 4 Stars
Get comfortable before you sit down to read how sexual tension stretches so tight between the co-owner of Everlasting Fantasy, Inc. and his personal assistant that the culmination of finding love when and where they least expect it will be sure to fulfill any boss-seduces-secretary fantasy you've ever had. From the first word, this light BDSM story will pull you in and leave you reading the last with sigh of fulfillment.
Hunter knows that behind Roni's prim and proper façade, is a sensual vixen just wanting to be let out to play, he also knows that mixing business with pleasure could be a big mistake, but there is no denying his body's lustful reactions and he decides that he wants nothing more than to uncover the sensuality she's been holding in, and he starts by convincing Roni to go with him to the fantasy resort that Everlasting Love, Inc. is considering investing in. Once they are checked into their room located in the Bondage Bay section of the resort, the sexual tension explodes into the fulfillment all of their long withheld fantasies, and they both know that this short time they have together will never be enough.

DIAMOND IN THE SNOW by Diana Hunter-- http://www.dianahunter.net/ --- 3-1/2 stars
This is a titillating tale of trust, acceptance, and the ultimate discovery of love destined to be as brilliant as a beautiful dusting of a "Diamond in the Snow".
Carolyn Brooks is very secure with and embraces her sexuality wholeheartedly. When the beautiful winter wonderland that is falling down around her produces the one thing that will complete who she is, the one thing she never dreamed she'd find, she intends to do everything she can to keep him, even if it means tempting the beast. When Paul rescues Carolyn from the snowbank that her car plunged into during a blizzard and takes her to his home to wait it out, the last thing he expects is for his nature to be brought out and embraced by the sexy little complication of a woman who insists on feeding the dominant beast she's let loose by giving him her ultimate submission.

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH by Ruby Storm -- http://www.rubystorm.net/ ---- 5 stars
This is a masterfully woven tale of two inexperienced and overzealous fairies and their laugh out loud hilarious antics as they get sidetracked by pixie lust while on a mission that, if successful, will earn them their gold wings... their mission... bringing together a man and woman who have both been tragically thrust into a world of loneliness, pain and insecurity, and who never dreamed they would find the soul wrenching healing and love that can only be compared to a "Diamond in the Rough" about to be cut and polished into the brilliant gem that it's meant to be. While reading this phenomenal story, I found myself laughing so hard one minute and the next wanting to cry for the heartache these two wonderfully tenderhearted people have gone through.
With their mission needing to be completed by Valentine's Day, Rosebud's almost frantic enthusiasm stretches Larry's patience so far that after shooting Brian Valentine with the first of two magic arrows Cupid gave them in the arsenal of weapons to be used in their quest of the gold wings, Larry accidentally shoots Rosebud with the second and it turns her into a wild and wanton little sprite who isn't about to let him deny her the pleasure she knows is throbbing for release inside of those green spandex tights he's wearing, even if it means forfeiting their gold wings. Meanwhile Brian and Claire discover an immediate affinity in one another's presence and it only grows stronger while they are working on Claire's garden together. As the heart-wrenchingly emotional and physical tragedies of their past and present lives unfold, Brian fights the continuing battle of insecurities left in the quake of a tragic accident that left more than just his body scarred. Thank Cupid for Claire's insightful wisdom that allows her to "see" through not only her own insecurities but Brian's as well, and for Brian's strength of character that allows the deeply imbedded seedling mixture of trust, acceptance, and healing to be nurtured to fruition in the form of love.
****
"Diamond Assets" was my first story by Ruth D. Kerce and I found it to be a fun and sexy light BDSM story that had me wishing for a little office tryst of my very own, I'll be sure to look out for books from this author in the future. "Diamond in the Snow" by Diana Hunter was well worth reading because it had a good BDSM plot, but I also feel that the male character was as a very emotionally weak person and would never have cast him as the dominate man that the plot tried to portray him to be. "Diamond in the Rough" is a very original story with deeply developed characters, and penned by the phenomenal author Ruby Storm, and it is by far the funniest story I've ever read, and on the other end of the spectrum it is the most heart wrenching.

4.0 out of 5 stars
4 stars, 2 stars and 1 star for three erotic contemporary romance stories., December 17, 2008
4 stars for DIAMOND IN THE SNOW by Diana Hunter.
Story Brief:
Carolyn is an elementary school teacher and Paul is a high school teacher. They work at the same school but don't know each other. When a snowstorm hits and school is let out early, Carolyn's car slides off the road after swerving to avoid hitting a deer. Her car is stuck at least overnight. Paul is driving behind her, helps her out of the car, and takes her to his nearby home to wait out the storm. Paul is a dominant but he's ashamed of it. He feels tormented, imperfect, and damaged. When past girlfriends discovered his dominant nature, they fled from him. Carolyn had previously studied the dominant/submissive culture on the internet and realized she was a submissive but never had a relationship in that way. She accepts her submissive nature without feeling bad about it. Paul doesn't want to hurt her so he holds back. She has to convince him that it's ok to be like he is, and that she wants him to do those things to her. Story includes bondage and flogging.
Reviewer's Opinion:
This is an above average, feel good story. They both needed reassurances from each other which I found touching. There is passionate sensual lovemaking. This author has a nice voice for scenes and events. If you remove the romance and sex, it's still interesting to read. Following are two examples. Page 120: When they first arrived at his home, she asked to use his telephone. He nodded toward the phone on the back wall. "He knew polite behavior dictated he leave the room so she could have privacy for her call. He didn't feel like being polite. Instead, he got two cups out of the cupboard and pulled out a tin of teabags and a carton of powdered cocoa mix. He'd give her her choice when she got off the phone." He then hears her talking to her Dad.
Another example of pleasant writing was on the last page describing driving to a garage, driving to school and seeing the students.

2 stars for DIAMOND ASSETS by Ruth D. Kerce.
Story Brief:
Hunter and Dex are co owners of a company selling sex toys, lingerie and related items. Ronni has been Hunter's personal assistant for six months. She dresses conservatively for business and wears her hair in a bun. Her career is her priority, but she has always been attracted to Hunter. Dex thinks she and Hunter would be a good match so he sets up a business trip for them to visit a pleasure resort in Colorado. Dex books them into the same room. Hunter and Ronni end up being perfect for each other.
Reviewer's Opinion:
For the first 40 or more pages there was too much pondering in the minds of Hunter and Ronni. I kept waiting for something to happen. The rest of the story felt formulaic to me, putting in the right ingredients and having the characters say all the right things to each other. The sex scenes seemed flat as if just describing various activities. There wasn't enough emotional pull for me. Once or twice I wanted it to be over.
Data:
Story length: 89 pages. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 3. Length of sex scenes: 4 to 10 pages. Total number of sex scene pages: 21. Setting: current day Chicago, Illinois, and Fantasy, Colorado. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

1 star for DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH by Ruby Storm.
Story Brief:
Two stories are told in a back and forth manner, one about humans and one about fairies. Claire went blind 5 years earlier and lives alone with her seeing eye dog. Brian was a firefighter who was scarred from a fire on the right side of his body from his face to his waist. He now runs a greenhouse and flower shop. They both are lonely and have felt rejection from others. Cupid assigns two fairies to get them together: Rosey and Larry.
Reviewer's Opinion:
Rosey and Larry: I didn't like their story at all. Rosey was obnoxious, selfish, bossy and insensitive. Larry was a little nicer but appeared incompetent and weak when interacting with Rosey. Rosey and Larry were supposed to shoot an arrow at Claire. This was an important job to be done. Rosey messed it up on purpose for her own selfish gain. I didn't like her lack of responsibility. I also didn't like their frequent use of foul language. Rosey pushed for sex with Larry. The sex scenes made me think of chattering, horny chipmunks in a hurry. Others might find these scenes humorous, my feeling for these scenes was "ick."
Claire and Brian: I liked the characters and plot in this story. It was touching and loving, but the conversations and events were too predictable. There wasn't enough interesting conversation. Claire was too quickly and frequently saying I love you. In so many romance novels a conflict happens to separate the couple after they have started liking each other. Some are well done, others are not. The separation in this story made me mad. I was so angry at Claire's mother for walking in at the worst possible moment and ruining everything. Then I was mad at Claire for not sending her mother away soon enough and insist that Brian stay and the mother leave. I wish the author had used something different to separate them. I'm having trouble understanding why this bothered me so much. I'm frequently mad and angry at bad guys in other stories, which is ok. But, I didn't want to be mad for this reason in this story. Later I was annoyed again with the mother when I learned that she didn't tell the truth to Claire for awhile. I was unsettled more than I cared to be.
Data:
Story length: 117 pages. Swearing and sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 5. Length of sex scenes: 1 to 9 pages. Total number of sex scene pages: 25. Setting: current day Miami, Florida. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic paranormal romance.
Other Books:
To date, I've read one other story by Ruby Storm. I gave 1 star to "Winter's Rose" Copyright 2006, which appears in the anthology "Winter Studs." My 4 star review for the anthology was posted on 12/17/08.
