Product Description

Whether you are a Mary or a Martha, you CAN homeschool!

"Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain." Psalm 127:1

With a Mary heart, we can allow the Lord to be the Master Builder of our homes. And since He is the center of our homes, we can teach using Martha's methods knowing our labor will not be in vain. This book is not about the perfect curriculum, the best educational philosophy, or even how to teach like a master. It is about helping each of us, the Mary's and the Martha's, to use God's blueprint to organize our lives in such a way that we can develop a Mary philosophy using a Martha approach. The ideas in this book are to help you and me build a homeschool, one room at time, God's way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not very long but packed with great insights, June 16, 2008
I've been homeschooling four children for four years and feel like I've read hundreds and hundreds of books about the topic. As a Christian, I often choose those with biblical foundations, and this title just caught my eye. I am such a Martha, seeking to be a Mary.

Well, three chapters into it, and the book doesn't disappoint. In fact, it exceeds my expectations. It's written in a thoughtful style, organized in a thought-provoking way, and finishes each chapter with thinking points as well as (and this is great!) action points.

The author encourages women who read this book to find a small group to study it together. I think this is a great idea. I may, in fact, start a Yahoo! discussion group to do just that.

Right now, though, I'm going to buy a copy for my sister-in-law: it's just the book she's been looking for. Most of you who know Christian homeschoolers, or who are such an animal, then this book really does deserve to be on their/your shelf. The biblical basis is superb, and it's practical, too.

A great combination of Mary and Martha!!
