The Saga Continues, February 21, 2009
The Saga of the Texas Rangers continues.
Dac Crossley has spun another wonderfully gripping tale of bandits and Rangers, of murder, smuggling, Prohibition and the circus, all in Kingsville, Texas.
Ten years have passed since partners Red Regan and Whitey Wilson went their separate ways. Red is now the Sheriff in Kingsville, when Whitey, still a pistol-toting, shoot-them-up-first-ask-later Texas Ranger rides into town to investigate the murder of their old mentor Ignacio Ybarro.
Amidst Prohibition, smuggling, murder, sharp-shooting and politics, Red finds out that Whitey is no longer a Ranger. Dismissed because of his still wild ways, Whitey is still a renegade, investigating the murder of Nacho on his own. The partners must put old differences aside and solve the murder--until Red is bushwhacked, and his deputy murdered. While in hiding from the new Acting Police Chief, Whitey works to protect Red, and clear his name, while still accomplishing his undercover mission.
Gripping, immensely readable, with true-to-life characters, Return of the Texas Ranger is filled with suspense, mystery and the history of old Texas. This is historical fiction at its best! Now we just have to wait another year for the third in the trilogy!

Trouble Rides the Rails, April 18, 2009
Dac Crossley's RETURN OF THE TEXAS RANGER may be better than his award winning GUNS ACROSS THE RIO. It is difficult to decide about this western mystery. It is a must read for mystery, police procedural and western fans.
Nacho Ybarra, the main character from GUNS is found murdered. His effects yield some shocks. Hidden in his hat band are a gold coin and the badge of the Texas Rangers. His best friends never knew he had been commissioned as a Ranger.
Ten years have passed, but Whitey Wilson does not shirk his loyalty to his friends. He has never left the past and arrives in Kingsville, TX with his horse on a circus train. Red Regan has become the local sheriff and has problems of his own, besides his distrust of the man who was his wife's lover. Together they set out to discover the truth of who killed Nacho?
You will be turning the pages late into the night just to discover what will happen next in this complex western mystery as it has more twists than a timber rattler and is just as deadly.
