I purchased this book for my mother in North Carolina and was quite surprised to find that it contained information for the Pacific Northwest Region. Oops.

As a keen (and experienced) coastal gardener, I was excited about receiving this book. What a disappointment... From what I can see they have just wrapped a standard collection of plants around a bit of throwaway text on gardening by the sea. Of the 100 plants I'd say that at least 90 would be burnt severely by the first whiff of a sea breeze. I'm not sure what sort of coastal environment the authors are used to, but I think it's completely atypical. Avoid this book if you are serious about succeeding in this most difficult of locations!
