Crook here explores the issues affecting teenage adoptees, attempting to tackle their "struggling to develop a sense of self." Though she conducted 40 interviews throughout British Columbia, her expertise on the subject comes mainly from observations of her two adopted children. The synopsis of the history of adoption is interesting, the interviews charming, and the writing style pleasant enough for lay readers, but when one attempts to analyze content and Crook's research techniques, the shortcomings become evident.
