Product Description

On a January day, a Presidential inauguration day, a one-megaton blast ripped through the Soviet embassy in Washington, D.C. Subsequent explosions around the globe changed the face and the shape of the earth forever. Out of the ruins emerged Deathlands. In this blasted heart of the new America, a group of people plan desperately to escape the eerie wastes and mutated life forms of their environment. Three warriors--the tough, intelligent Ryan Cawdor, a beauty called Krysty Wroth, and the armorer J.B. Dix--set out on a harrowing journey to find a rumored enclave high in the mountains.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where it all began, January 19, 2004
this is number one in the deathlands series, which is still going strong at number 60. Within this book is were all the main characters are brought to life for the first time. although this book was actually written by two different authors i think that once you pick this book you will be wanting to read the second book before midnight!!!! All in all this is pure sc fi adventure

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reading, July 18, 2001
By A Customer
One of the better books I have read this year, Pilgrimage to Hell is a great novel for anyone into post-nuclear holocaust fiction. For anyone who has played the PC roleplaying games Fallout and/or Fallout 2, this is basically like 'reading' the game. Great stuff. The ending was a little weak, but made me want to go out and pick up the second book in the series, which is a good thing. I was reading this book whenever I could fit in time after work, I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Grandfather of them all, June 22, 2002
The first in a long line of Deathlands books. You will notice I do not call them novles because while they are enjoyable they hardly qualify as "War and Peace". Here for the first time we meet Ryan Cawdor, basically a one eyed crazy man frontman for a firm(but fair) warlord named "The Trader". We are also introduced to J.B Dix, Kysty, Do , Hun and many others. The author manages to paint a very vivid picture of a world affected by Nuclear War and this book has (by far) the best plot and charecter development of any other in the serise.

Overall-If you liked William W. Johnstone you will like this book.
