Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This large-format high-quality photography book depicts the beauty of the Rocky Mountain landscape from New Mexico to the Yukon. Scenic photographs maximize the detail and tonality range. Dramatic landscape photographs depict Rocky Mountain vistas reflected in alpine lakes and backcountry rivers. There are also accent photographs of the wildlife found in these alpine regions.

The text presents an overview of the topography of the Rockies and the natural history of the mountain environment, including the three major regions: - The Southern Rockies (New Mexico, Colorado) highlighting Rocky Mountain National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Monument, Snowmass Wilderness, San Juan Range and Sangre de Cristo Range
- The Central Rockies (Wyoming, Montana, Idaho) highlighting Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, Sawtooth National Recreation Area and Medicine Bow Range
- The Northern Rockies (Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon) highlighting Waterton Lakes, Banff, Jasper, Revelstoke and Yoho National Parks, the Columbia River Valley and Kananaskis Park.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply another superb photo journey with Tim Fitzharris!, May 14, 2009
By Kent Baker "Photoguy" (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I love Tim Fitzharris's books. He is a master photographer, who shares his knowledge freely and expertly with his readers. He writes in a style that makes it next to impossible to put his books down. I have often read one in a single sitting because I could not bear to stop reading and looking at the magnificent photographs in his books. Tim is not just someone who writes about photography, he is a masterful practicioner of the art! His techniques will produce results, if followed, and he is exceptionally generous in sharing them. If you only buy his books for the exquisite photographs, you will be well rewarded! But by all means read them and learn from a master. They are an easy read and he explains everthing in simple terms that anyone can understand. I was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Utah, Wyoming and Colorado and have spent a great deal of time doing photography in the regions covered in this book. Haveing seen, and photographed, many of the same scenes as Tim, I can tell you that his work is truly inspirational!

5.0 out of 5 stars A+ -- wonderful color photos of mountains, water & wildlife, September 8, 2005
This remarkable book represents the state of the art of printing color photographs in books, and at a very reasonable price.

I see a lot of pretty nature-photo books. They're almost always OK, but seldom memorable. This one's a keeper.
Check it out.

Happy reading--
Pete Tillman

2.0 out of 5 stars Missing a few things, August 1, 2000
By twomed (Tacoma, WA) - See all my reviews
This has some great pictures of the Grand Tetons. And only one of Glacier National Park. There are many wildlife pictures and some of the canadian rockies. Generally it's a great picture book of the Grand Tetons.

For my liking, there is an excess of reflected images in this book even though the photography is excellent and sharp. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars review response
Can the reviewer above (Linda Wimberley) count? Of the 70 landscape photos depicted, 7 or 10% are from the Grand Tetons, arguably the most beautiful park in the Rockies. Read more
