5.0 out of 5 stars Building a hot flathead?, December 18, 2003
By "mustang63b" (Glendale, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
Thinking of modifying that old flathead V8? If so, pick up this book, lots of really good hot rod stuff to help that flathead perform bette than before. Good tips on fuel, oil, heads, and all other aspects of building a hot rod flathead. Written by Frank Oddo, of Street Rodder magazine fame, this book is similar to the year long buildup they had a few years ago in Street Rodder. Excellent reference for building a non stock flathead

5.0 out of 5 stars Good, detailed, buildup story, March 20, 2005
By A. Summerer (Plainwell, MI United States) - See all my reviews

This book details the quest of a flathead ford build up. While most of the info is centered around the later 49-53 engine (which is the one the author is building) there are off-shoots in appropriate places detailing the other differences for those working with the earlier engines. Lots of detailed information about many aspects of the disassembly and build. This and Tex Smith's (by Ron Ceridono) are the two best flathead books available. There is little other published information that these two books do not include.

I believe that the Title of this book should be "Ford Flathead Builders Handbook 1932-1953" not 1932-1958. Jay Smith
