5.0 out of 5 stars Dim the lights and read in bed, January 26, 2005
There's a little something for everyone in this collection: romance, lust, loss, love. Particularly satisfying romantic favorites: Lovers yearning to hear and learning to speak the unsaid in Timothy Lambert's "The End of the Show" and David Puterbaugh's "Me Too." Men finding the will to love again after great loss in Gavin Austin's "Tokens to Tomorrow," Waide Aaron Riddle's "Lovers' Morning Hold," and Lou Dellaguzzo's "Feast." Even never-to-be physical love has a sweetness in J.A. Deveaux's "Passing" and Steve Attwood's "A Man's Man."

If romance doesn't rock your world, the collection also offers several encounters with the forbidden: too straight, too naive, too dangerous.

Sweet dreams!

4.0 out of 5 stars A definite find!, August 5, 2005
By John Boyd "headdoc" (Waterloo, IA USA) - See all my reviews

I read Best Gay Love Stories 2005 whenever I went into a restaurant alone for some coffee, a short meal, etc. The stories were just long enough that I could read one or two easily before the meal was over. And the stories were excellent as well. They ranged from young to not-so-young love, longterm and not-so-longterm relationships and everything in between. There were even a couple of stories about failed relationships.
The best thing about the stories is that they portrayed gay men having much more than sexual trysts with each other. A fairly recent French film title said it best: (It's,,,)Just a Question of Love. Perhaps societal attitudes toward homosexuality would be more positively affected if more people could see gay men as loving one another instead of just having sex. This book does just that. It's a definite find.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warm and Fuzzy, January 18, 2006
By Paul A. Minafri (Phoenix, Arizona) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Most of the entries in this collection of short stories are warm and fuzzy, i.e, romantic and passionate, as compared to lustful and lurid. Does the collection work?...Yes! However, one must be in a particular mood to read items from this collection. If you are in the mood for RABID ENCOUNTERS, this isn't the place. If you are in the mood for REFLECTIVE STORY TELLING, then this most assuredly is the place.
