Product Description

JavaScript is a very powerful and easy to use scripting language that runs on both Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, and can be incorporated into any standard HTML document that will then run in any web browser on any operating system. Because of this platform independence, JavaScript is one of the most widely used web development languages.

This revision of Learn Advanced JavaScript Programming focuses on professional-level JavaScript techniques, including the latest developments. The first few chapters review fundamental JavaScript concepts and techniques as well as basic HTML, while the rest of the book discusses advanced techniques including debugging, security, style sheets, and using JavaScript with layers. The appendixes include JavaScript object syntax, the ASCII character set, and a list of online resources.

The companion CD contains the HTML source code for all examples referred to throughout the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is THE book!, September 21, 2002
By "derbaxter" (New York) - See all my reviews
There are a lot of java script books out there, and everyone shows you how to do an image roll over or how to to change items in the status bar. This is the only book I have seen that shows you in depth the true inner workings of java script. If you have a basic knowledge of java script and you want to go further, this is the book you should get.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the cool JavaScript other books don't tell you!, September 5, 2002
By A Customer
This book is long, and the code samples are long too. However it has a lot of advanced JavaScript material, that other books just don't cover. I have played with JavaScript for a while now doing simple scripts to enhance websites. This book took me to a whole new level in JavaScript. This is not for people brand new to JavaScript, but if you are ready to move deeper int JavaScript, then this book will do it. I can give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars I recomend it, October 26, 2001
By Doug Wyman (Phoenix AZ) - See all my reviews
I found this book to be a truly great asset. Most JavaScript books just show you neat little tricks like roll overs and fades. This book takes you in deep into JavaScript showing you how and why things work. I did find a few errors in the examples but given the size of the book I would still say over 90% of the examples worked exactly as written, and the few errors I found in examples seemed to be more of typo's than fundamental flaws. I definately suggest you buy this book

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok coverage; too long; lots of errors
This book covers its topic reasonably well; it doesn't waste a lot of time on the basics, and it does cover some advanced topics, so it's true to its title. Read more
