As far as Bible scholarship is concerned, this Bible is a strict, literal translation of the Bible. It is true and accurate to the original languages and the earliest texts. As for the Church, this Bible is one that is Church approved. It is true to Catholic faith and tradition.

I find it good for studying the Word of God because it has concise, helpful study notes in the columns, lists cross references for passages, and has introductions before each part and book of the Bible. It also has a nice history of the Bible at the beginning and a great Encyclopedid Dictionary in the back. It also contains the Lectionary readings, explainations of the parts of the mass, and maps.
