The forward and epilogue, sincerely read by Al Gore, voice deep concern for our global environment. Throughout the remainder of the program Ed Begley's critical tone emphasizes the grave nature of the problem and Gore's demand for immediate action. Begley's habit of increasing the tempo when reading of mankind's abuses against nature reflects Gore's belief that this disastrous situation will soon be out of control. In the final portion of the program, the conviction with which the narrator reads the solutions to the crisis effectively persuades listeners that these are sensible remedies. Although the program drags in some places due to the exhaustive research included in the text, there is more than enough food for thought. M.P.T. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
