4.0 out of 5 stars Crime doesn't pay - especially if you're an idiot, November 26, 2006
By Daniel Jolley "darkgenius" (Shelby, North Carolina USA) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
The title's sort of self-explanatory, isn't it? No matter where you go in the world, be it America, the Congo, Japan, the Netherlands, etc., there are stupid people committing stupid crimes - and going immediately to jail without passing Go or collecting $200. These aren't just spontaneous acts of stupidity, either - some of the crimes described in this book were the result of careful, detailed planning.

The stories recounted here run the gamut from petty thievery to armed robbery, with bank robbers supplying some of the funniest goofs. Take the guy who was apprehended after going back to retrieve his car keys from the teller counter, or the thieves who tried to tunnel into a bank and almost drowned after cutting through a water main. You've also got geniuses who signed their names (and addresses) to such things as petitions and passport applications before turning and demanding money. Leading in the category of "getting their just rewards" are the robbers whose getaway took them right in the path of the oncoming men and bulls in the Running of the Bulls at Pamplona. My pick for unluckiest crook is the dope who broke into a nondescript white van, only to find it was a police surveillance van filled with four policemen. My favorite story, though, concerns the kid who tried to siphon gas out of a motor home one night - only to accidentally put his hose in the sewage tank.

These are highlights from just a few of the book's many entries in the annals of dumb criminals from all across the world. It makes for light reading, to be sure, but it's also quite entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Histarical!!!!!!!!!!!, February 20, 2004
By newfound32 (los angeles ca) - See all my reviews
I just got this book and I got to tell you, this is one of the funniest books I have ever read! I was expecting a little more like pictures but hey you could read. They only have drawings so no actual pictures, and not alot either. These stories are so unbelievable, because you could see how stupid people are. I mean wow criminals are so freakin stupid! This book is hilarious and cool to show off. Like to show people how stupid people are. If you are a criminal I suggest you read this book so you cant make the stupidest mistakes. This book is pretty long too, and hilariously funny. You might want to hold your stomach first before you read this hilarious book. This book is cheap to like on half ebay and stuff. Or Amazon heheheh(hope I don't get sued). Anyways you got to get this ruthless comedy book that will make you laugh and just maybe, maybe a little dumber but you learn criminals mistake so it kind of makes you smarter. One of my favorite stories are "I arested myself"Its about this guy who tries to steel plywood sheets and he fel and got stuck untill an employee found him in the morning. Then theres the canadian bank robber who left his keys in the counter of the bank. There are more great funny stories in this histarical book. Very well written but I recommend "AMERICAS DUMBEST CRIMINALS". It shows a story in that book that beats em all. Its about these guys who rob a mcdonalds tell'em to give them all there money and 12 big mancs. They eat the big macs there and wait for the cops to come. Crimminals are so dumb.
