5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful photography., April 4, 2000
By A Customer
This book is a large format paperback with about 28 pages of text (including a small glossary) and 123 stunning color plates. The book starts off with a brief history of the Victoria & Albert Museum, and brief discussions of embroidery of the middle ages and Renaissance to Rococo embroidery. It also has detailed descriptions of each color plate which include the size, subject matter, and materials and stitches used.

The quality of the color plates is awesome! In most of the photos you can see the actual stitches. The material includes tapestries, clothing, and furnishings.

This book will be a great addition to anyone's library who is interested in the history of needlework or who just likes to look at things of beauty.
