Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Looking for business information on Vietnam has been like looking for a black hole: you knew it was there but just couldn't see it-until now. Robinson, a former trade representative for California Governor Deukmejian and a veteran Asia watcher, has written the first truly useful book on entering the Vietnamese market. Since the late 1980s, Vietnam has been undergoing doi moi ("rebirth"). From the strict central planning of old, it is transforming its economy to encourage private enterprise and foreign investment. Robinson rightly believes that there will soon be a mad scramble to enter the Vietnamese market, much like the investment rushes into other countries that had a longstanding embargo, e.g., Russia and South Africa. The book includes sections on the most promising sectors for trade, a step-by-step plan for getting started, an overview of Vietnamese business culture, foreign investment laws, and the addresses and phone and FAX numbers of important government organizations, trading companies, and U.S. businesses that already have a presence there. Highly recommended for all business collections.
