Gr 6-10-In her discussion of a disorder affecting many children and adults, Sheen covers its history, diagnosis, treatment, and solutions to some everyday problems associated with it. She incorporates thoughts by Hippocrates and William James about the disorder, quotes from individuals affected by it, and cites studies on the causes ranging from diet to neurological. Most of the studies mentioned list sources, but not all. A number of treatments are analyzed, including the pros and cons of Ritalin. Current and future research is also mentioned. Black-and-white captioned photos are scattered throughout. A solid choice for students with a personal interest in or research requests on the topic.

Review
"Overall, the information...is more thorough and accessible than that in many books. Well-done and intuitively organized."
