Product Description

The Fast Track series initially will cover the four core exams (everyone must take these) and two of the most popular electives, passing all of which earns the candidate MCSE status. Each book has two parts: Part I--the biggest piece of the

-Most other books seek Microsoft approval, meaning they must include 50% tutorial material, cover every objective for every exam, no matter how frivolous, etc. MCSE Fast Tracks break away from that mold by focusing on what you really need to

-Targeted to those who know the technology but who dont yet have the certification. No superfluous info; MCSE Fast Tracks feature only what the more-experienced candidate needs to know to pass the exams. Affordable study material for the ex

5.0 out of 5 stars Five stars only because Amazon won't let me give ten., November 10, 1998
By A Customer
I took a class on NT Workstation through an ATEC in the summer, then waited three months before taking - and failing - the exam. As I went back through my notes from the class it was apparent that even if I took the exam the day after the class, I still would have failed.... there just wasn't enough corelation between what was in the course and what was on the exam.

I was on the verge of forgetting about it when I saw another person using this book to study for the exam. I'd already wasted close to $2k, so what was $16?

That $16 was the best investment I've ever made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth three times the price!, October 24, 1998

I did not buy this book to pass the Microsoft exam - I just needed something to explain to me why Windows NT Workstation was doing some of the things on my system that it was. A friend of mine who was studying for the exam suggested I get this book, and I did.

Not only do I understand NT a whole lot better than I did after reading other books, but I understand more of how NT interacts with everything else - particularly NetWare servers and Dial-up networking.

I would buy this book again in a heartbeat, and plan on buying others in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars To the point!, March 19, 1999
By A Customer
I spent a lot of looking over the coverage of key topics in half-a-dozen Workstation books. This one covered them in as much or more detail than any other. The small size comes from the fact that the non-critical nonsense has been removed, which saves me from having to jump over a dozen pages here and there.

I found the book to be easy to read, easy to understand, and all that it was advertised to be, and then some.
