Gr. 4-7. A nice complement to Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for adults, this slimmed-down version, "by" kids as well as for them, is ideal for getting children involved in family vacation planning. With Lefkon providing the editorial glue, eight kids, ranging in age from 8 to 14, contribute their opinions about shopping, restaurants, places to stay in the Disney World complex, and, of course, the attractions in all three of the theme parks. Photographs and drawings of Disney characters illustrate the text (there are also a few fill-in-the-blank pages), and the layout is busy without being cluttered. This was the first for kids by kids book I ever owned! Now I own them up to the 2000. This book now is a little useless but still accurate! If you want a more up-to-date book buy the 2000 or 2001 addition. This book could still help but not as well as it did in 1996. Some things aren't in the book that exist now including whole parks or hotels. Some things in the book aren't there any more. For example this book says 20,000 legues under the sea is still there but it has been replaced by Ariel's Gotto. I should know I have only missed going there 1 year since I was 2. I'm 12 now! I missed 1999. I hope I've helped you choose which book to purchase now!!

This book gives good information that is not usually found in the typical Disney Guide. But it is best used for kids 12 and under...teens will be put off by the youthful lay-out of the chapters.

I got the book for my kids to use to get them excited for the trip (not that Disney World in it of itself wouldn't get them excited). My daughter read the book cover to cover and had her list of attractions she most definitely wanted to see. She carried that book everywhere and probably knew the parks better than we did.
