From Booklist
Gr. 3-5. Part of the Good Dogs! series, this volume on arctic dogs mixes anecdotes about sled-dog excellence with details about different breeds and the types of training the dogs receive. Although the book would have been more accessible had additional white space and boldface paragraph headings been used in the design, readers will learn about malamutes, Siberian huskies, and samoyeds, as well as how dogs work in expeditions and in racesincluding more than just the Iditarod. Ring also explains the various members of a dog-racing team and introduces sled terminology. Refer to Series Roundup in the June_ 1994 issue for another title. Mary Harris Veeder
