Editorial Reviews
From School Library Journal
Grade 4-6 --Combining biography and environmental history results in a superficial treatment of both. However, for those knowing little or nothing about the lives of Goodall and Muir, these titles provide a good start. Through anecdotes of early childhood events, readers are shown the increasing awareness and love of nature and wildlife exhibited by each individual. Both books include some excellent full-color and historical photographs that accompany and enliven the text. Jane Goodall has a map of Tanzania that shows where the Gombe Stream Reserve is located; John Muir contains a simple chronology of significant dates in the naturalist's life. As basic outlines of important figures in the field of nature study, these are supplementary additions. --Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Trinity Pawling School, NY
