2.0 out of 5 stars Edited by a sixth grader?, October 15, 2006

(REAL NAME)
This is one of those books that elicits a "Wow, it could have been a classic," but instead it's NOT worth spending the somewhat considerable amount that it takes to acquire a copy. The text is quite literally riddled with spelling errors and bad grammar; it's as if it was edited by someone with a grade-school education. There are pages on pages of people who died and were buried at San Quentin in the 1800s. Filler, nothing more. Photos show numbers, then the caption doesn't say what the numbers relate to. Example: 1: Hospital. 2. Cellblock. 4. Factory. So...what is number 3? How was this kind of thing missed? It's not a 1-star book, but for the money, it is quite poorly put together and edited. A major disappointment for a 150-year compendium on a real piece of prison history.
