A pesar que se ha escrito muchos libros sobre municipios y sobre la industria azucarera en Puerto Rico, es muy poca la literatura que existe sobre la parte social y cultural de los barrios de Puerto RIco y mucho menos de un poblado "creado" por una Compañía Azucarera. Para las nuevas generaciones que no tuvieron la oportunidad de ver con sus ojos la época de oro del Azúcar en PR, este libro es una ventana al pasado glorioso de una Central que fue la mas grande de Puerto Rico y que fue catalogada entre las primeras 10 del mundo. El libro es de fácil lectura y posee ilustraciones que ayudan al lector a tener un mejor panorama. Es un libro que tiene mucho sentimiento y fue escrito toamando en consideración importantes detalles, ya que la escritora es hija de ese poblado azucarero. La recopilacion de datos y la investigación histórica que se utilizó para redactar este libro lo colocan en un lugar de seriedad dentro de la Historiografía puertorriqueña y del Caribe.
